This week we are looking at number 18. If you hold up 10 fingers, how many more fingers do you need to borrow from your child to make 18? Model how to pop 10 in your head and then count on 11,12,13....up to 18. Feel free to adapt the ideas from previous weeks.
Also to link in with our dinosaur topic your child may enjoy building a home for the dinosaur they designed last week (as well as a jelly swamp! - see Topic folder). Lego and duplo are obvious starting points, but using recycled pieces of cardboard, boxes, cartons and tubes will help them revise their knowledge of shape- can they name any 2-D and 3-D shapes? Can they cut their shapes into different shapes? What happens when they fold a square in half?
