Week 14 Commencing 13th July

Welcome to the final full week of home-learning lessons for this school year. Next week we have something different for you for the last few days of term!

Week 14 English: RWI

 

To help children learning to read at home during school closure, Read, Write Inc are streaming phonics, reading, and spelling lessons every weekday on their YouTube channel.

 

Each lesson is ten to fifteen minutes long and available for 24 hours.

All lessons will be available at 9.30 am.

 

Please use the YouTube link below to explore Set 3 sounds (you could recap Set 2 sounds also).

There are some additional sessions on Read Red Words that would be great to explore.

  • Read Red Words 1: for children who are reading Red, Green, Purple, Pink and Orange Read Write Inc. Storybooks. Many children are able to read these in Reception.
  • Read Red Words 2: for children who are reading Yellow, Blue and Grey Read Write Inc. Storybooks. Many children are able to read these in Y1.
  • Read and Hold a Sentence 1 (from 15th June): reading and writing practice for children reading Green, Purple, Pink and Orange Read Write Inc. Storybooks. (For children reading and writing with Set 1 sounds confidently and learning Set 2 sounds.)
  • Read and Hold a Sentence 2 (from 15th June): reading and writing practice for children reading Yellow, Blue and Grey Read Write Inc. Storybooks. (For children reading and writing words with Set 2 sounds confidently and learning Set 3 sounds.)

 

These YouTube lessons are structured in the same way as RWI sessions in school. Please watch them with your child daily and encourage them to join in with the teacher.

Week 14 Maths

 

Head to the White Rose Maths website and watch the daily video. Then complete the corresponding worksheet below and check your answers using the answer sheet. Some of the worksheets may seem tricky - head to the BBC for extra videos and activities on the same topic.

Don’t forget Friday is Maths Challenge Day!

 

WRM have repeated some of their lessons from the first weeks of home-schooling. If you think you have already completed the worksheet before, you could complete it again OR head to the BBC website for an alternative worksheet on the same topic.

Speedy Maths games Y1 - look for them 'Activities' section and head to the Math section and click on 'Live Maths Games'

 

Multiple choice racing game where pupils consolidate understanding and automatic recall of maths facts in a fun competitive environment against other pupils in real-time.

The game features simple addition combining numbers up to twenty.

A school-wide leader board and bonus awards earned for effort and performance encourage self-learning.
